»My work is about space and the light that inhabits it. It is about how you can confront that space and plumb it. It is about your seeing, like the wordless thought that comes from looking into a fire.«
James Turrell
James Turrell, an internationally renowned artist focusing on light and space, has developed a special light installation for the Dornier Museum. Flying has been one of Turrell’s great passions since early childhood. The special perception of light »up there« has greatly inspired his art. Turrell’s installations entice viewers into a realm of pure imagination and sensuous experience. His fascination with the phenomenon of light has always been linked with a meditative search for the place of humankind in the universe. He also restores historical aircraft, and is currently working on a Do 27 for his personal use.
