Friedrichshafen

The region around Lake Constance features some of the most beautiful landscape in Germany, and its leisure facilities make it a favourite holiday destination. The idyllic countryside is marked by the lake as well as by fruit orchards, vineyards, meadows and forests. For visitors, this tri-border area of Germany/Austria/Switzerland offers innumerable recreational and cultural opportunities: In addition to its many cycling and hiking trails, wide range of water sport options and attractive excursions, it also has a number of museums as well as theatre and music companies.

The city of Friedrichshafen is situated in the middle of the German side of Lake Constance. With the construction of the Dornier Museum, it is now the City of Aviation per se. The Zeppelin Museum opened here back in 1996; with its focus on airships, it concentrates on flying from the perspective of »lighter than air«. Now the Dornier Museum, which highlights approaches to flying in the mode »heavier than air«, makes another great chapter in aeronautic history accessible to the public.
