Dornier’s journey to the stars, which begins with the founding of Dornier System GmbH in 1962, expands horizons in two directions at once. Dornier’s scientific research satellites not only observe space, but also the earth itself. Earth observation satellites provide insight into our environment, into our atmosphere and how it changes due to solar influences, and into environmental pollution.
The exhibition follows Dornier’s journey into space by means of a walk-through solar system. Satellite orbits give visitors an idea of the complexity of space. More than a dozen spacecraft and satellite models, including some that have returned from space, fill its halls. This »walk-through space« also includes an original section of a space lab including various material research units.
