Vertical take-off aircraft: 50 years of Do 31

The anniversary year 2018

In 1968, the first and only VTOL transport aircraft to date absolved its first complete flight, with vertical take-off, cruise flight and vertical landing. It still holds several world records, brought an enormous gain in technology to the Dornier company and the German Aviation Industry and aroused considerable attention at home and abroad.

50 years later, in 2018, the Dornier Museum will, together with the German aerospace society Deutsche Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrt - DGLR, celebrate the 50th jubilee of the Do 31 with a series of events. Those will include a special exhibition to the technology of vertical take-off aircraft and also a model flight meeting, the RC-VTOL- WM.
