100 years of seaplane history in Friedrichshafen

Friedrichshafen is celebrating a very special anniversary in 2012: On June 16, it will be exactly 100 years since the first hydroplane took off from Lake Constance. The plane's owner, Theodor Kober, was the founder of the aircraft manufacturing company Flugzeugbau Friedrichshafen GmbH.

To mark the occasion, the Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen will unveil the first faithful replica of the Dornier Wal in July 2012. A special exhibition will give visitors the opportunity to learn more about these amazing flying boats and their fascinating history.
