Friedrichshafen is located on the northern shore of Lake Constance in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, close to Switzerland and Austria. It is known as a popular tourist destination and as the "City of Zeppelins". Today Friedrichshafen is home to companies in the aviation and aerospace, automobile and high-tech industries. It also hosts a number of trade fairs and is a popular venue for conventions.
Friedrichshafen is also an ideal holiday destination. Thanks to its location on the northern shore of Lake Constance, it offers spectacular views of the lake and the Alps from the many cafes along the extensive waterfront promenade, as well as attractive shops and a diverse cultural program.
