Flying high

As one of the most important centres of the German aviation industry, Friedrichshafen is the site of groundbreaking research in radio communications, navigation, lightweight design, meteorology und aerodynamics. Its development is inextricably linked with the names Ferdinand von Zeppelin and Claude Dornier. The pioneering spirit and extraordinary vision of these two aviation giants secured Friedrichshafen's place in aviation history and made it what it is today. This proud tradition is reflected in the town's two aviation museums and is being continued in the modern company Zeppelin Neue Technologie.

Friedrichshafen is home to two museums showcasing the achievements of aviation pioneers with closely linked histories. A special combination ticket allows aviation buffs to save on admission by visiting both the Zeppelin Museum and the Dornier Museum within a seven-day period – for a single, reduced price.
